squirrels: nature's bestest friend

You know what I like about squirrels besides how cute and furry they are? I like how they store nuts.

It's as simple as that, my infatuation with squirrels is, I like how they store nuts.

I just don't think most animal species are that smart. I mean, how many other creatures put that much thought into the future? Is a beaver really thinking about the implications his dam will have on the ecology of the river and surrounding forest up river? Do rats contemplate how decimating the local population will have when they bite and spread their germs & diseases?

You know what else impresses me about squirrels? It's that they store all those nuts, but ultimately, when they end up searching for those nuts, they often don't find them. Yep, they have buried nuts but they end up simply growing up to be trees. I mean, how cool is that. Not only are they looking to the future, but they're also being so selfless.

But wait, squirrles don't store nuts, they store acorns?

Acorns? Those vile and bitter things!

Well, I guess I was all wrong. I don't like squirrels at all. Damn squirrels and their blasted acorns!
