As Searched On... (August 26, 2008) Officially moved to Archives Ah, haven't touched this site in quite a while. Still a good idea, but one I have no time for. I'm moving this into the archives. |

The Electrical Socket (August 26, 2008) Changes... The Electrical Socket was the hub of my web projects starting in 1996. It took over from my MatteNet collection of pages started in college, around 1994. Both kept running, one a more personal website, the other a project website. But as the years went on, it became harder to spend time on so many sites and the language started to get outdated in places. The most recent electricalsocket.com site was launched in October 1997 and I recall it used a design I had sitting in a folder from a few years earlier.
Meanwhile, my projects and presence on the web moved on in other directions. My main site that documents my work has become matte.elsbernd.net and to keep there from being conflicting information and links, I have consolidated my sites in such a way that electricalsocket.com is pretty much not a site unto itself anymore.
A few of the projects on electricalsocket.com are still there, most were old and had not been updated in quite a while and those have been archived and are still available in a frozen state.
For those of you who have been using my sites, I hope nothing interrupts your pleasure. If you perhaps got a truncated version of who I am, well, I hope you now can see the full picture. |

Formulaic (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives This site hasn't really been updated content-wise since 1998 or 1999, so I am officially moving it into the Archives. |
If I Had But 1/2 A Brain (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives This site has been dormant for a long while, I'm officially moving into the archives. By 1/2 of my brain! |
LinkArt (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives This site is pretty old and I am sure most of the links are broken - but perhaps it's still good "art"? Anyways, it's off to the Archives for this project. |
8Track On My Mind (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives I think it was a good idea... one that sites like muxtape have tried again, but one I never really had the technical skills to build nor the real interest/focus to pursue. Off to the archives for you! |
Browser Wars (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives I still love these browsers... too bad the Mozilla Foundation never looked to one of these as the basis of the Firefox browser... |
The Filmsite Graveyard (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives It's spooky, but this site has been like a ghost for years now and so now it's going into the Archives. |
Anyways... (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives This collaborative storytelling site was ahead of it's time - at least in terms of what I could build/support. It did well, but was never anything more than a small experiment. It's now been retired/archived. |
Society of Postmodern Archaeologists (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives This is one of my oldest little projects. Really just a writing project, but I had a lot of plans for it. But alas, it just didn't into my schedule. Now it's in the archive. |
No More Web (August 24, 2008) Officially moved to Archives This was a really nice site for a small moment in time... one where people were comfortable in a job/industry that was booming and could contemplate what else they'd like to do instead. I think that period is several booms/busts ago now and well, people are probably either out of the industry or just happy to be employed. The site itself is now archived. |
CopyMatte (August 20, 2008) Introducing CopyMatte No, it's not a plagarism site or a place for you to make photocopies of me, but rather this is the new home for my writings on the web.
For the moment, there are not any new pieces - those will follow. But as I rebuild the backends to all my site, I am helping pull things together to make it easier to update as well as easier to get to. |
Books I've Read (August 19, 2008) Same Books, New Site One of my oldest projects (started in 1988), Books I've Read is a record of books I've read since I started high school.
The books haven't changed, but while I was working on a new admin backend to my sites, I decided to update the frontend of this little site. |
BehindtheURL (August 04, 2008) A Little Better WHOIS One of my older tools - BehindtheURL - offered you the chance to do a WHOIS search on a URL, but it was a little old and didn't allow you to search some TLDs.
So I've finally gotten around to updating it and it should be more useful. I've summarized the old guide to TLDs I had so that it's accessible right below the WHOIS search. |
HexHues (August 03, 2008) Colors - A Little More Bright Many years ago, I created a little site for people to name & play with colors. It lived in many places and mainly went by the name HexagonalHues. It's last resting place was on The Firm List, but I felt it should have a life of its own, and thus |
