Ah, Steve Berry. I read all of his previous books in one long stretch recently and I really came to like his approach. After recently a recent series of thrillers, it was nice to be back to Berry.
What do I like so much about his works? Well, I like the characters. Cotton Malone especially is not too central or development, just enough so. Often you can get bogged down by knowing too much about a person, and that's not the case here. I think Berry also does a good job at crafting the villains. There's usually a group of them, and they all seem to fit. Plus, he takes you on a good adventure, a mix of historical, current, conspiracy and more.
As for this book in particular, I think it lived up to his others. The same balance is there from start to finish. I just got exactly what I wanted out of the book. |
